Who is that special music educator who is shaping our profession in very meaningful ways?
Who made such an impact not only on their students but on we fellow music educators
that they are truly Hall of Famers?
Who is that classroom teacher that utilizes music so effectively in the classroom that we music educators are in awe?
What music educator is effectively utilizing the music of diverse cultures in teaching music to students?
Do you know any of these people?
If you do, then they need to be nominated for a state award. Although each of the sections submit names for these awards, nominations can also come from individuals. CMEA wants to make sure we honor those special people who make music shine in the lives of students. You may know one!
CMEA Awards Selection Process
To nominate a candidate for a state award, please email CMEA Executive Administrator Trish Adams at email@example.com with the candidate’s name, email address and/or street address and the award name that you believe the candidate is worthy of receiving by September 15, 2016.
In order to streamline the state awards process and to be more accurate with candidate biographical information, the CMEA Board has updated the process in which candidates are nominated and information is gathered for state awards. CMEA members will now nominate candidates that they feel are worthy of a state award and the candidate will then receive notice of this nomination. On the award nomination notice, the candidate will be asked to submit biographical and philosophical information, as well as photos, that would be submitted to CMEA Secretary Sandra Lewis by the deadline of October 5, 2016 for the candidate to be considered for that award by the CMEA Executive Board. In the case of a non-music educator nominee, e.g., an administrator, a legislator, an industry representative, the nominator will be asked to provide the biographical information and photo.
