Under the direction and supervision of the principal, the Music Department Chair will oversee the daily operations of the Music Department. Candidates must be dedicated to increasing diversity in the student body and creating access to the program for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. They will create opportunities for students to present their work in LA communities and high-profile events, and to work with non-profit arts providers in developing programing and recruiting “pipelines” for prospective LACHSA students. While continuing to curate performances in the European classical and jazz traditions, the ideal candidate will work to incorporate an inclusive selection of music from contemporary and world music sources.
